Abdominoplasty

What Is Abdominoplasty?

A tummy tuck surgically removes extra skin and fat while repairing separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti) to create a firmer, smoother midsection.

The procedure can reshape your waist, improve posture, and make clothes fit comfortably. Most patients stand upright by day 5 and return to desk work in 10–14 days, with full activity at 6 weeks.

Ideal for:  healthy adults at stable weight who are done having children and struggle with hanging skin or bulging abdominal wall.

How Abdominoplasty Works

  1. Prep & anesthesia

Outpatient surgery under general anesthesia with our MD/DO anesthesiologist for comfort and safety.

  2. Core steps

Low-bikini incision, removal of excess skin/fat, muscle plication to tighten the inner corset, optional liposuction for flank contour.

  3. Duration & immediate after-care

Takes 2–3 hours; you wake in our recovery suite wearing a supportive binder and small drains. A trusted adult drives you home.

  4. Healing milestones

Drains out in 5–7 days, shower after 48 hours, light walks daily, resume workouts at 6 weeks; surgeon check-ins at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, and 12 months.

FAQs - Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

How much does Tummy Tuck cost?
A full tummy tuck starts at $13,500 and includes your board-certified surgeon, private surgical suite, drains, compression binder, and 12-month doctor-guided follow-up. With approved credit, monthly payments can start as low as $150 – $250 after a typical deposit. Exact quote after exam; individual needs vary.
Does everyone go home the same day?
Yes. Abdominoplasty at Leva Medical is an outpatient procedure, so you recover for a short time in our suite and then head home the same day with a trusted adult to drive and stay with you overnight.
Will I need special after-care?
You’ll wear a snug binder (not a Colombian faja), empty small drains for 5 – 7 days, and walk slightly bent at the hips for the first week. We teach you showering, gentle walking, and incision care on day 1.
Do I need lymphatic massage after surgery?
No. Our advanced technique minimizes fluid build-up, so formal lymphatic massage is not required. Light self-massage plus the binder is usually all you need for smooth healing.
Does a tummy tuck hurt, and how do you control the pain?
We infiltrate tumescent local anesthetic even under general anesthesia to cut bleeding and keep tissues numb. A long-acting medication injected into the muscle repair provides 3–5 days of pain relief, so most patients need far fewer narcotics and describe discomfort as manageable soreness.
Where will my scar be, and will it show?
The incision sits low—usually below underwear or swimsuit lines—so it stays hidden in most clothing. It fades from pink to skin tone over 6 – 12 months with proper scar care.
How long do results last, and can future pregnancy or weight gain affect them?
Results are long-lasting, but significant weight changes or pregnancy can stretch the repair. For best longevity, wait until you’re done having children and keep weight stable (individual results may vary).
Who is not a good candidate?
You may need a different approach if you have uncontrolled medical conditions, massive skin excess needing an extended tuck, unrealistic expectations, or smoke and can’t quit. Your surgeon will guide you to the safest option.
Are there alternative procedures or add-ons?
Depending on your goals, options include a mini-tummy tuck, flank liposuction, hip fat grafting, or combining breast surgery in a Mommy Makeover. Your surgeon will tailor a plan that balances results and downtime.
Can multiple areas be treated in one visit?
We typically treat one area at a time for optimal safety and precision. If you want several zones improved, your surgeon can outline a staged plan.
